The Bad Attitude Racing CDI uses a high efficiency, high output ignition coil. The spark plug wires must be connected to either grounded spark plugs or grounded spark detectors. Using resistor spark plugs or boots will damage the CDI. Failure to follow the above directions will void the warranty. Use only terminals and boots supplied with the unit. If you are unfamiliar with this type of ignition installation consult your jet ski dealer.
NOTICE: Final ignition timing must be checked with a timing light. Please consult your Kawasaki service manual: Stock: 17 deg = .080 BTDC Race: 21 deg = .100 BTDC
We recommend using B8EV spark plugs with a .030in. (.77mm) gap.
Cut the plug wires to the desired length. Insert the end of the spiral (a) into the end of the wire (b) as shown in figure 1. insert the assembly into the boot (c) making sure the coil end of the spiral is turned so the spark plug will connect (figure 2). Use wire-dri to spay the boot for a easer fit and to water proof the spark plug wires. If wire-dri is not available, amor all or son of a gun can be used.
